WeCanDoBetter
Do I have a desire to change the world and make it a better place for the deprived - socio-economically and politically marginalized majority? - Yes! Corruption and other misguided actions by those that hold power and influence in society undermines governance and keeps Liberia rooted in poverty.  Are the promoters of corruption and bad governance aware of their actions and its impact on national progress? Yes!

WeCanDoBetter blog reflects my contribution to the many biting discussions generated by decisions that impact the present and when unchanged, generations yet unborn.  Do I write to satisfy or show appreciation to a particular group of people?  No! The locomotion for change is within our power and I write this blog blind to the trappings of the wrongdoers – seeking to patronize no one, but serving as the voice for good.
As the head of CENTAL I do not only lead our strategic quest for accountability and transparency, but represent the many voiceless whose rights are trampled and sidelined when our national resources are hugged by the privileged.

In the last two years, the myriad challenges faced by the education sector have drawn closer to my heart.

Civil service reform: An imperative for effective governance PDF Print E-mail

An effective civil service runs an efficient government. An effective civil service is one that recruits based on merit and competency. A government that is efficient makes plans and implements them - transforming the lives of its citizens. Historically, Liberian governments have shown an inability to effectively deliver services, improve infrastructure and reduce poverty. The abysmal management of public resources is largely attributable to a dysfunctional civil service (good policies but poor implementation). Patronage and lack of transparency in recruitment has undermined quality of staff placement in the civil service. (taken from my 500 Words for Change series)
